How Can we Prepare Students to Shape a Changing World? (NEW)
October 20-24, 2019
During our one week stay in Armenia for the Teach For All global conference, we learned about ways to develop teachers who develop students as leaders and prepare them for the future of work – especially today where there exists a big gap between schooling and employment (75 million young people are out of work around the world – while 40% of employers can not find the skills they need for entry level jobs).
We learned ways to develop students as system thinkers who are knowledgeable of the education system and are able to address foundational challenges. To understand the system and empower youth and educators as upstanders, it is of utmost importance to create culturally sustaining pedagogy, which is a form of teaching that sustains students' cultural backgrounds as part of schooling.
